Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest, Saturday, October 21, noon to 5pm, Ventura Harbor Village
Dress up your pup for this fun contest and win a prize for your best friend! Prizes are offered in several categories, including spookiest, sea-worthy, creative/original, best in show, and more.

Haunted Workshop at Build-A-Bear Workshop Ventura, Friday and Saturday, October 27–28, Pacific View Ventura
“Beware. You’re about to enter…the Haunted Workshop! Halloween takes a furry twist, when Build-A-Bear Workshop transforms into a place of spooky fun,” they said. “Direct from the Land of Halloween Hugs comes Starry Night Bat, Skeleteddy and Vampire Teddy!”
Trick or Treating at Ventura Harbor Village, Saturday, October 28, 1–3pm, Harbor Village
Those who are already living in Ventura know how fun it is to take your costumed kids trick-or-treating through Harbor Village’s participating businesses. There will also be Halloween treats, face painting, and seaside fun.
“Shh” or Treat Halloween Fun at Camarillo Public Library, Saturday, October 28, 11am to noon, Camarillo Public Library
Kids in their Halloween costumes can hear special stories about monsters and ghosts, play games, and win prizes. “Don’t forget to say ‘Shh or treat’ to get the best toys,” they said.
Thrill the World: Dance Flash Mob, Saturday, October 28, 3–4pm, Harbor Village
Participate in a flash mob to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” or just watch, if you’d rather. You can learn the dance here.
Harvest Moon Spooktacular, Saturday, October 28, 10am–7pm, Oak St. between Main and Santa Clara streets
The 6th annual Harvest Moon Spooktacular features live music and entertainment, games, a haunted house, a kids’ zone with bounce houses, food, shopping, and even a pumpkin pie-eating contest at noon. Wear your favorite costume and compete in the all-ages costume contest at 3pm, and trick-or-treat along Downtown Ventura’s businesses from 4–7pm.
“Boo at the Zoo”, Saturday and Sunday, October 28–29, 11am to 5pm, America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College
“Each child in costume will receive a Zoo BINGO card upon entry,” they said. “When all squares are filled, they head to the kids’ fun zone and receive a bag o’ treats! There will also be animal shows, a costume contest, a parade at 3pm, face painting, games, and not-so-spooky decorations throughout the zoo.”
20th Annual Underwood Family Farms Fall Harvest Festival, Saturday and Sunday, October 28–29, 9am to 6pm, Unserwood Farms
Enjoy live entertainment, pumpkin demonstrations and displays, country games and activities, pig races, and tons of food for purchase, plus Underwood’s tractor-drawn wagon ride, corn maze, hay pyramids, Animal Center with Fun Hill, Craig’s Chicken Show, and Kid’s Corral and play area.
Trick-or-Treating at the Mall, Tuesday, October 31, 4–6pm, Pacific View Ventura
Get an early start on your trick-or-treating at the mall, where kids can find treats in participating stores. The Ventura Family YMCA will also be in Center Court with games and prizes.
